Some questions about eyesight and eyewear?

Posted on March 29th, 2010 by admin

1. Which are better for your eyes: contacts or glasses?

2. Are soft contacts a danger if you accidentally sleep with them on/ forget to remove them?

3. Is it true that if you wear your glasses or contacts all the time, it’s bad because your eyes become totally dependent on them?

4. My friend told me it is best to alternate between glasses, contacts, and going for brief periods of time without either of them. Is this sound advice for a short-sighted person (with power 250)? I’ve been wearing glasses on and off since I was 12, and now at 18 I’ve finally been wearing them properly.

5. Do glasses/contacts really improve eyesight in the long term?

1. I prefer contacts. I think my sight is better with them in.

2. Certain brands of contacts are approved for continuous wear.

3. I’m dependent on them; without them I can’t see.

4. I like to let my eyes "breathe" for 24 hours before I put in a new pair of contacts.

5. Like I said, they improve my eyesight ALL THE TIME.

6. Make sure you go for an annual check up and ask your optometrist or opthamologist these questions. Each person’s eyes have unique characteristics. Make sure the answers are appropriate for you!

I would have to say glasses are better…those chemicals you use on contacts can’t be good for the eye.

Then again, I’ve never worn contacts because I don’t like the idea of sticking something in my eye!
