What national chain prescription eyewear retailer has the cheapest contacts exam and contacts?

Posted on December 29th, 2009 by admin

I live in San Francisco (94109 zip code) and I need contacts. Which place has the cheapest eye exams and sell contacts for the cheapest price (other than online)? It doesn’t really need to be a national chain store, I just want to know any retailer you recommend so I can check it out. Thanks!

Get on the phone and start calling around. Some places give you discounts, see if there are ads in the newspaper. Holidays are coming and they may be running specials.

i like aviators, but the ones you’ve chosen have a hideous frame. get aviators, but from somewhere else. ray-bans are nice. but they’re designer.

what is the price range on prada, gucci, and those other really high end brand frames for eyewear?

About $200 to $700. Depends on the brand. Ray-Ban is cheapest and Bvlgari are priciest.

Where can I find 3D Videos for 3D video glasses (eyewear)?

Posted on December 29th, 2009 by admin

Also, what is the proper term for the type of 3D video that 3D video glasses are compatible with? Is it sequential?
Hi, I mean the electronic video glasses with 2 LCD screens built-in, the ones that give the effect that you’re watching a 50inch screen or bigger. The older ones (Olympus) didn’t support 3D but the newer brands of glasses do.

I’m pretty sure iTunes sell 3D videos cos there’s some MyVu 3D video glasses which are built for iPod. I don’t have iTunes though so I can’t check but that’s the buzz on the street!!

Well, there is an excellent site http://www.orangedwarf.com for video glasses, camera glasses and spywear. I am pretty confident that you will find what y’re looking for!

Does a helmet with a faceshield count as DOT approved eyewear?

Posted on December 26th, 2009 by admin

I just got a motorcycle and the law here requires DOT approved eyewear if you’re on a permit like me. Does the slide-down faceshield count on my half-helmet as meeting this requirement, or do I have to get additional goggles/glasses?

You got it right. If you have a helmet with a full face-shield, this counts as approved eye protection. Al long as you keep your face-shield down.

But here is what I do to go one better.

I bought a pair of motorcycle sunglasses at a local department store. I found these at Wal-Mart for about $25. They look like ordinary sunglasses but have some handy differences.

They have foam around the edges so they act like goggles. They are polarized to prevent glare. They are photo sensitive which makes them automatically lighten or darken as needed. This is handy late in the day when the sun starts going down. They lighten enough that I don’t need to pull over to remove them. They have rubber on the pads to help make them stay on better.

I use a full face helmet with a full face-shield. However I like to raise or partially open the face-shield when I am stopped to get a little extra air. It also helps with fogging on cool mornings on my commute to work. These sunglasses give me extra protection so I don’t need to immediately lower the face-shield when I start moving again.

I don’t wear these because I have to, I wear them because I want to. When I was very young and just starting to ride motorcycles I would occasionally not wear eye protection. It didn’t take long and something hit me in the eye. Man did that hurt. It scratched the eyeball. Had to put cream in my eye and keep it covered for about a week. Luckily there was no permanent damage. But I never want this to ever happen again.

What do you think of High Fashion?

Posted on December 26th, 2009 by admin

Well, for me it’s starting to get "not practical" since the world is already experiencing crisis.

But what I want to know is your opinion.
Is it still practical to spend your money on these super expensive stuff? (e.g. Louis Vuitton luggage, D&G eyewear)

Gosh no… I mean, money inproves quality to a point… but after that point you are just spending for a name. Seems pointless. Who are you trying to impress? Fasion obsession just keeps women preoccupied with useless crap – they should invest time and energy into something more meaningful… I’m not saying dress crappy or anything, just don’t obsess over clothes, etc. and waste money on crazy expensive brands.

How can i sell my products(rimless eyeglass frames)?

Posted on December 26th, 2009 by admin

Hi, I have started importing rimless eyewear frames(brandless) from India and China. Now these are great quality and i am giving a one year warranty on these frames. I am ready to sell it in wholesale(min. 10 orders for $30/frame) and to individuals(i am mostly looking for wholesale) for $50. But my problem is that the local retailers who sell these frames(similar frames) for $220 are not ready to buy from me as they say that they want a company backing me up. How do i make a start? What should be my strategy? I truly beleive that the market for frames have a monopoly charging ridiculous prices for frames and the people deserve much better and cheaper prices and that is the reason i started importing it. Can anyone advice me what my strategy should be and why would the people be/not be interested in a product like this?

Couple of issues.

1. If you are aproaching these companies as an individual and they’re wanting a company to "back you up", I would strongly suggest you either set yourself up with a business lic. under a fictitious name. This can be done through your county. The other alternative would be to set up a corporation through your state or a different state, Nevada being a popular choice. The corporation would give you tax benefits and personal asset protection but is more complicated and costly.

2. Economies of scale. If you are importing 10 units per month the companies you aproach are importing 1000 units per month greatly lowering their cost.

Suggestions:

1. Try ebay you might be surprised at the results.

2. Attend trade shows specificly related to the product you are selling.

Hope this helps.

PS. ignore my spelling.

The military issues them to us but I hear they came out with some new designer kinds of frames as well. Any Optical places in Hawaii carry these street editions?

I bought a pair from Paradise Optical at Waimalu Shopping Plaza 98-1277 Kaahumanu St. Aiea, HI 96701 – 808-488-6869. Got me the polarized Jake frames. They have a huge selection to choose from with safety certification as well as prescription lens too. Ask for a cool dude named Darrell, he hooked me up.

Is it bad for a straight guy to wear D&G eyewear glasses?
